I use https://Nixihost.com for hosting, and set up a website with a wordpress template. It's not hosted via Wordpress, it's literally just a template. I'be been using it to host my newsletter posts (I need to fiddle with it some, but here it is: https://getting-dirty-anthropocene.com/ ). It wasn't complicated

Love this energy! Building a website doesn’t have to be complicated. Just try not to get sucked in by the promises of frameworks if you can. Plain ol’ HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is what they all compile down to anyway and have the advantage of being easy to work with and understand.
