it manages to be both a terrifying tale of a real serial killer nobody knew was out there, and a fascinating look at a big transition between generations of American journalism
Again not 4 article but used old newspaper photo to confirm flaming urn found in disused office building belonged on top of obelisk & proper orientation of flame & was able w/gravestone conservation co. & local fire department to restore to proper condition & place.

I follow History Professor Heather Cox Richardson. She has books, does a podcast and sends out a letter on FB Substack and she’s on Bluesky also. She’s brilliant!
In the 2007 article linked below, @katemasur.bsky.social relies significantly - tho definitely not only! - on newspapers to trace Civil War usage of the term "contraband" to refer to refugees from slavery.
I'll let others decide if it was great, but I wrote an article for Legion Magazine in 2014 about how news of the D-Day landings were received in Canada, drawing from newspapers across the country. The article isn't available online, but I could send you a copy.
