I don’t understand either … we had 4,000 more people vote than in 2022 but the PCs got 5% more of the vote this time - they turned out to counteract the rally cry of those wanting change
I hate how the left vote is split between NDP and Liberals. PS we need a liberal leader that can toe to toe with Ford… Get someone out there being like “drain the swamp!” “Just say No to drug dealers running our province!””Ontario is not for sale, Doug! We aren’t crack”
We in the USA are jealous of how comparatively “normal” your political problems are. 😊 If only our worst politicians were merely incompetent failures with lousy priorities.
He's not just that. Days after the US election, he announced a VERY overpriced $100M contract for Starlink. He is a Trumper. He has fascist and authoritarian tendencies. He is brazenly, OPENLY corrupt like Trump, wasting billions of taxpayer dollars. I could go on. It's not "just" incompetence.

Had you worked together, Ford would have a minority, at worst. Instead you lost/handed us another term of his corruption. You ran on taking care of people. Lies. You care about your egos, not ON. You must be proud.
So basically 19% of all the votes made the Ontario Conservatives another majority government. The system is not democracy, it’s apatheticracy, since only 45% of eligible voters showed up to vote.
Canadians are disinterested & uninformed about politics & electoral systems. They don't even understand strategic voting! That plays into the hands of the Cons and Libs who have successfully stalled electoral reform. In 2025 the NDP & Greens will have to collaborate with the Liberals to save Canada.
NO PP! The progressive parties must collaborate in 2025. The Liberal Party at the provincial and federal levels has fought electoral reform along with the Cons. Both parties like having 100% of the power. Give credit to the fact that it is the NDP and the Greens who will need to give up most for us
I fully endorse proportional representation electoral systems. BUT with the reality of world events in 2025 Canada has run out of time for electoral reform. (Libs and Cons have fought it successfully.) To save our country and democracy progressive parties MUST collaborate to stop vote splitting.
But sadly there were some ridings where a non PC candidate lost by such a small amount because the vote was split between NDP and Lib by like 100s to 1000s of votes.
I don't think the ON liberals wanted to win, they just wanted to get status again.
I lived in three countries, two provinces in Canada, two states in the US and a state in another country, six cities in total in my life and Ontario is the least progressive, most behind, ugliest looking, of all the places I have lived in yet. And every year, it gets worse, not better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Polls have been extended to 10-11pm in some areas. Still time to flip a few more seats. Tell others, including on other platforms. #OntarioVotes2025 #ontarioelection #dougford
The archaic FPTP electoral system won the election. Canadians are dangerously uninformed about an electoral system that MOST democracies have ditched. Libs and Cons have fought electoral reform because it hands them 100% of the power when they "win". The Cons "win" because they don't vote split.
How the hell did he win a 3rd majority? Wtf is wrong with the people of Ontario? What was voter turnout this time? Worse than the previous election? Ffs.
Obviously, Ontario voters are fascinated watching Ford destroy their province, and they want to see how difficult it will become living there under his corrupt and ideological government.
Hey, Ontario, if you want to be able to ridicule Alberta for electing corrupt Conservative governments, maybe you should stop reelecting frikken Doug Ford.
Doug has figured out that he can win elections by doing something positive and then calling a snap election. Now we're all set to find out that the province elected a criminal for four more years.
No, it really is that bad. 55% of Ontarians didn't vote, with 2 weeks of advanced voting, 3 days of early voting in the middle of that, 12 hours of on-the-day voting, and mail in voting options. Most didn't have enough time to get the mail in option though with the snap election, but the rest...
Apparently, some people actually think not voting sends a message that they don't like anybody. They don't realize that not voting just means less votes needed for someone to win. 🤦♀️

ANY. OF. THEM.
We can then later argue about which one's better for future ones, but get the big hurdle over with first.
Thankful my neighbourhood retained our NDP incumbent, she has been great. But not much good if he has the majority.
He's going to destroy Ontario.

Anything less than half of a registered voting population is an indication that something is significantly wrong.
In practice the philosophy of one of the two bigger parties would be dominant.
So, somehow, someone has to decide if that's the party that got 30% of the vote and 14 seats or the party that got 19% of the vote and 27 seats.
when will i have a socialist day in ontario?
But I had hoped Ontario would wake up after so many years of Doug (and Rob) Ford.
if it wasn't for him Rob would've topped out as Mayor of Etobicoke and Doug would never have been able to ride "I'm Rob Ford's brother" to power
