Ran it in 2005, when I could register 3 months in advance and not worry about the lottery. This is one reason why I haven't been back. These big marathons are getting insane.

Organizers of the Chicago Marathon reported that a record 160,000 runners had applied for entry for their 2025 race. They are targeting 53,000 participants, so that's only a 33% acceptance rate.
