When your training is going incredibly well and you're feeling invincible is exactly when you are very vulnerable. You're on that fine line between great training and doing a bit too much. Be cautious when you find yourself in this position.

When your birthday falls on a Saturday, race! It was a good birthday.

If you're racing to the best of your ability, no matter your fitness, it's going to be hard. Don't expect anything else.

The latest running influencer trend seems to be blaming all tightness on weakness. "You don't need to stretch, you need to strength train." While that may sometimes be true, tightness is often just tightness and stretching/massage helps.

I originally wrote this 10 years ago. As I re-read it and prepared it to be re-published, I had to make almost no changes.

Just glanced back at my bobbleheads. Right up front, where he belongs.

Congratulations Coach Krall! Another well earned recognition.

Today is a special day. I always say my daughter has a similar coaching situation to what I had in high school. Well, today Coach Krall will officially join Coach Conway in the WCCCA Hall of Fame.

Runners in line of the storm and impending cold: take it from someone who has run through 30+ Wisconsin winters. Be kind to yourself. The conditions will slow you down. It's ok, you'll be fine once conditions improve. Do what it takes to get through this time and you'll be stronger on the other end.

You've set your goal. You've laid out the plan to accomplish the goal. Now what? Set the goal aside and focus on the plan.

Nowhere near what I used to do but my best year running wise in at least a few.

Every year, we hear the frustrations of gym regulars when their gyms are crowded in early January. Imagine how it is for those people trying to change their lives. Instead of showing frustration, be welcoming and show some compassion. You might change someone's life for the better.

It's not about impressive workouts. It's about stacking week after week, month after month, of good solid hard work. Give me months on end of solid consistent work over some lights out workouts, any day.

People think they sound like experts when they use big words and say complex things. True experts can break down a topic and explain it in a way that a non-expert can understand.

Ran it in 2005, when I could register 3 months in advance and not worry about the lottery. This is one reason why I haven't been back. These big marathons are getting insane.

Winter has definitely already arrived but it's not too late for your annual reminder: you can run safely through the winter. Take it from someone who has run through 30+ Wisconsin winters and counting. www.hillrunner.com/winter-runni...

So true. Stick to bread and butter workouts. They work.

I always say about the same thing so it may seem pre-canned but it's truly heartfelt. Thank you to the wonderful running community for everything you are. I strive to give back at least as much as I've been given but I will always feel like I've fallen short. Runners are the best.

Ed Eyestone is a treasure the whole running world should be grateful for.

I have to admit, when I was signing up for Bluesky, I had the thought "great, just what I need, another social media app." However, I have to say, this is one that feels nice to be on, which is rare these days.

I absolutely love this. I may have to borrow the idea (maybe not the notecard but getting suggestions for positive affirmations).
