I have a very good PC but I still got a Steam Deck, and actually ended up uninstalling all the games from my PC and switching to just gaming on my Steam Deck. :)
In-home streaming has come a long way, on nice summer days I take the deck out on the patio with a smoke or drink and stream games that don't run on the deck right from my gaming PC.
Plus when I travel I can just hook it up to anything with an HDMI port and I'm gaming (or using desktop mode)
Use case matters a lot.
- I’m a 3 time dad
- I’m into older games and emulation
- I’m a Linux nerd
- I’m disabled, and prefer gaming in bed or couch
- I prefer controllers over kb+m
- don’t play competitive online games
Easily a 11/10 more than perfect for me. I have no other devices at this point.

- Emulation (from the oldest consoles up to the Switch)
- Non-Steam titles: GOG, Epic and Amazon games using Heroic Games Launcher
- mods, customised UI, Decky Loader
I use mine more than my computers and Series X. The pick-up-and-go is unbeatable
