Fellow creatives who have fully migrated from twitter: What are we doing with our now-stagnant accounts? I'm thinking about deleting my posts because fuck that place, but I'll have to admit it's tough to pull the trigger. Lots of history there.

It's not the first waystation on the internet that's died on me, by any means! But it is the first one I don't want to leave standing in my wake. Deleting it off my phone was a huge mental boost - I think this will feel even better.
Though not a creative, as such, I downloaded my archive and have since been deleting my posts except for the ones cataloging Musk's malignancy and incompetence. Let them train his GenAI on that extensive list of news articles.
Leaving your content (posts, images, etc.) also takes up space in their storage service, which costs them money monthly, so that can also be an interesting aspect! 😄
Sadly there's still a lot of info dissemination on important topics like Long COVID, climate change, global rise of fascism, DIY treatments, etc. happening over there, which I haven't found fully replicated elsewhere. Might need to leave it dormant to stay abreast and copy info elsewhere to share...
I deleted my posts and DMs and so on. Not sure about deleting the account itself just to squat the name. But I otherwise have missed it very little since I left in 2022. What we loved about it was already gone.
You can request your archive, download it, delete posts, squat your profile, AND use something like blueark to bring old content over if you choose to, even at a later date, if you downloaded your archive before deleting everything.
I work in a field that tracks user data. Just delete it. It's just a website. There will be dozens more. People are just wanting to hang on to memories of being retweeted or afraid they'll be impersonated. Harsh truth: they won't because no know will remember them on the site. Just delete it.
Nuked it with 0 hesitation. I am not allowing Musk to use anything of mine any more nor giving any kind of endorsement to platform that promotes hate with having an account there, even unused.
I deleted it...nuking it from orbit was the only way to be sure. A week before I left I noted I was leaving and kindly asked several accounts I follow (but don't follow me) to please also post here, since I enjoy their content. Some already had and a few others did (or left in the great migration).
All that said, the few brief, meaningful interactions I'd had I'd ported elsewhere (I'm a pack rat that way). I will miss the reach, though my Bluesky followers are nearing my X-Twitter numbers (for what that's worth). So I'm not worried about losing what little reach I had....

(I'm considering nuking it entirely, though.)
I've made *my* decision, and I don't want a trace of me to remain in that hellhole. So I'm nuking it right now as we speak~
I’ll probably delete it at some point, but I need to change all my social links to here first.
Then I just deleted. Felt good.
I'm just ignoring my account for now
I don’t like the posts being LMM fodder, but I was never a very prolific or popular poster, so they won’t be able to scrape much of value.
I agree. Delete posts. Squat the profile.

And there's something wonderfully cathartic about hitting the delete button, a finality that acts as a clean break. I found it quite cleansing.
do I want my history scraped and regurgitated from that guy's half baked llm?
I am deleting my account today. Also, fuck that place and that guy.
