Hobnob, Digestive (chocolate), Bourbon (Jaffa cakes aren't biscuits. They also go stale quickly out of the packaging.)

This is the unintended consequence of the Comics Code Authority's approach to morality, which required good guys to support the status quo and refrain from questioning authority (c.f. the Hays Code and BS&P's TV Code). This was easier to apply to superheroes—spandex morality plays—than other genres.

I'm not sure how big this overlap is, but you're a federal employee who plays or makes tabletop games and you're about to be fired illegally by DOGE, reach out

To celebrate our anniversary and the work our team has done over the past year, each day for the rest of the month, we're going to be making some of our best articles free to read! Our 1st free article is our investigation earlier this year into the crowdfunding chaos that was Wonders of the First

The Inquirer is covering the protests, even if Vichy NYT won't www.inquirer.com/politics/pen...

I can't do the CAPTCHAs no more, T. I think I'm a robot.

This is the kind of #TTRPG related thread that begs for a bookmark feature on Bluesky. 📌

Big news in the #TTRPG world! Steve Jackson Games announces, “We are thrilled to announce that Possum Creek, the award-winning independent game publisher, has joined Steve Jackson Games as an imprint.”

just a heads-up: there are a *lot* of spammy "blue wave" accounts being created on Bluesky right now, I can see them blocking my account because I blocked some of the early ones for being obvious follow-farmers. Be mindful if you see rage-baiting generic "trump bad" content from new accounts.

This is my idle animation! What's yours?

A thread from Canada about how Trump's threatened tariffs are disrupting business for an independent TTRPG publisher.

I had to look up who this megalomanical clown is. It turns out he's the former creative director at Roblox, a company famous for <checks notes> its exploitative business practices and targeting children.

If you work for the federal government and are tempted to take Musk’s “buyout” offer please know that you’re never going to see that money.

I was listening to an interview with science fiction writer Ted Chiang while driving today and he said something that I loved... "A.I. is a knife-sharpener for the blade of capitalism."

One very weird emergent phenomenon in the Bluesky community with its recent growth is skewed follower counts. Accounts with thousands of followers that follow thousands, sometimes with vastly more of the latter than the former, have no manageable way to interact. It looks, frankly, sus.

"The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, selfappointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny." - Federalist 47 (Madison)

I mean, literally, the answer to this is "I am federally prohibited from telling you anything about my students without a subpoena or judicial warrant; if you have a subpoena or judicial warrant, please submit it to [Legal Officer/Office] to ensure it is in compliance with all relevant federal laws"

TTRPG folks with Substack newsletters may want to consider alternatives such as buttondown.com and ghost.org. 'Cos Substack has just doubled down on its tolerance for nazis.

Lately, I've been thinking lately about how Tales from the Loop and The Electric State (Simon Stålenhag, Free League) are a response to the Gernsbeck SF tradition, not so much Golden Age space opera sci-fi, but rather "scientifiction" in a landscape of new technologies and inventions.

Pretty big deal. @bookshop-org.bsky.social is selling ebooks now. You can now support indies while purchasing digital books. bookshop.org/ebooks

Giving an award for creativity to products containing genAI is inherently contradictory. And by leaving this year's submissions open to AI slop, the ENNIEs are inviting techbro evangelists to brigade voting in order to create a false impression of validation.

Me researching and reporting: Haha!! Fuck yeah! Yes!! Me writing: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.

I'll reiterate that I don't think the various trolls/bots/chuds here understand how comprehensive the Bluesky block function is here. It's so good that it actually encourages "don't engage, just block": nothing's left over after the block happens so there's no point engaging at all. Just brilliant.
