Lately, I've been thinking lately about how Tales from the Loop and The Electric State (Simon Stålenhag, Free League) are a response to the Gernsbeck SF tradition, not so much Golden Age space opera sci-fi, but rather "scientifiction" in a landscape of new technologies and inventions.
