That's not really the point. The point is that the percentage is increasing at an alarming rate, which begs the question: is this care really warranted or is it being pushed by providers for profit at an unnecessary rate and is it actually safe to do so? Sadly, only time will tell us that.

They lobby for it. They treat it just like they have smoking, opioids and others. They assure everyone it's safe. It's non addictive. It's non life altering. 25 or 30 or so years later, it all blows up and the lawsuits start. And the kids will be the ones who pay the price for it.

In my (limited) experience experience, they are pretty upfront about it being life altering. And it’s not like opioids in that in order to start you have to go through a whole process of being assessed for readiness, and the side effects are spelled out before you ever have 1 injection.

Good to know. Another problem with it though, is they're asking 9-11 year olds to make life altering decisions. You take puberty blockers for more than a few years, it's over. What if you wake up one day, you're 16 years old, and you realize you were wrong, and there's no going back? What then?

These are super rare occurrences, I’d be interested to know how many kids that age are actually starting treatment. As a parent, I don’t think I could consent to starting at that age. And, parents DO have to consent.
