The paragraph about international football increasingly feeling like a different form of the game really resonated with me.

Interesting that Zidane didn’t much rate JR at Madrid given he similarly seemed to shine more on the international stage than he did at club level.

He used to do one or two things a game that were extraordinary, but the league figured him and us out pretty quickly that year and we couldn’t adapt. Still was a privilege to watch him in a blue shirt.
