It's unfortunate that it is very US-centric. I assume it calculates as "average" having AC all year.
How do I know? You can only select two public transportation methods – bus and trains – what happened to trams and trolley buses?

the quiz doesn’t properly cater for people whose main or sole method of transport is walking or cycling. There may not be many in North America , but there’s quite a few in other countries

it also doesnt work for someone whose main transport is rail. it says my ~10,000km of annual rail transport = 3.7 tons co2.
Real statistics on electric rail co2 would put that at under 0.2 tons.
Tested by doing the same answers with and without the rail usage.
Horrendously flawed quiz.

I am in Australia, we are just now charging an EV as we are returning from a holiday (it is my daughter’s and partner’s car, I don’t own one, which is perfectly doable in inner Melbourne tho most ppl do) - still can be a bit tricky to find chargers outside major cities

It sort of does on the transportation section about the vehicle you use most often. On the slider for efficiency, you can slide all the way to the right for Efficient or Electric. General, but there. The little info circle reveals their consideration of the % of clean energy used to charge.

I commuted by ferry across the SF Bay for my previous job, which is also not represented. I found the quiz engaging and a way to consider the elements of my ecological footprint. It's disappointing when things don't work like you think they should, but it made me think. Sorry it didn't work for you.

Remember that the concept of carbon footprint was created by fossil fuels and British Petroleum to distract people from real action (make polluters pay bills) … try instead maybe the app @chilliapp.bsky.social , good for concerted low effort digital action in the US and oversea
