For my daily AMADEUS post, I'd like to point out the fact that not enough people talk about the priest who Salieri is telling the story to. His reactions are priceless. π₯ #filmsky

I saw Amadeus on its first release. The closing credits had ended for over ten minutes by the time I remembered how to get out of my seat. Overwhelming is a massive understatement.
I saw "Sly Lives!", the documentary of Sylvester Stewart--Sly of "Sly and the Family Stone". I'm still struck by his face and particularly his eyes during the interview they return to often where he's sitting on the couch. And I realize, underneath all the minutiae, it's the same damned story.
My favorite thing about this movie is that it is telling you, the entire time, that Salieri is a monster, and yet through the skill of the filmmaking and F. Murray Abrahamβs performance, you still completely buy into a story by someone you know is lying to you, and the lie is still clear.
It's so messed up what he does to Mozart! One of the many reasons I love this movie is because of how tragic it is. It just breaks my heart but Salieri is so damn fascinating.
