My husband had an office facing the MIT Great Court. He started leaving a few nuts outside the window on Fridays. One Friday he forgot and there were 3 aggrieved squirrels tapping on his window. They train us.
I often feed them and after 3-4 nuts that do tend to bury them. I'm amazed they can never find any when they look as the odds of not finding someone else's cache is amazing or it is considering the amount they have of me.
My good friend started feeding a squirrel she considered almost a pet. I was house sitting and got concerned, even scared by how aggressive the animal got and how intent it was to get inside the house that included a a Y and a toddler!
This is my life. Add in a hooded gull called Steven who spots you walking past the window from a mile away who swoops in demanding food. Plus a pigeon who thinks nothing about sneaking in through an open window and plonking itself down on the sofa and you really have problems π
Itβs a she and she may be pregnant (itβs that time of the year). Squirrels also bury most nuts they get from humans so they have a cache to fall back on when food is scarceβ¦ which is often.

I'd suggest the possibility of "him" being "she", and pregnant.
Feed her.
