Strider is also healthy enough to pitch on opening day, but he is going to be on the IL to save innings. If the Dodgers could treat Ohtani as two players the way Yahoo does, I'm sure they would IL the pitcher half too.

Personally, I agree with the logic here. But this scenario has absolutely zero precedent, and I can also respect the counter argument. Something like this should be considered on a league to league basis, based on how players prefer to play their fantasy.

Tbh the issue is split Ohtani.

IMO treating Ohtani as a single player you can use at pitcher or hitter is best. In a hitter slot you get his batting stats, in a pitcher slot you get his pitching stats.

In a weekly league this makes sense. In a daily league, where the only time you don't have a top 5 hitter playing is when you have a top 20 pitcher pitching - it makes him the clear #1 overall player, and it's not particularly close. Platforms don't differentiate by format.

Yes, but in redraft leagues, it makes #1 pick very, very unfair. In Dynasty, I have Ohtani (Batter) in 4th and everyone laughed at me when I did that. Probably could have gotten him in double digits. It has to be nerfed.

I don’t think it’s an advantage so great that it needs to be corrected. You’re taking on essentially double the injury risk as a trade off.

Yes in daily lineups it takes the thought out of the #1 pick, but it’s not some guaranteed win.
