Hunter Greene made his Spring Debut today! He will look to build upon his excellent 2024 season with his electric arsenal. Taking that next step with his splitter will be key

Did Andres Munoz just stumble into the best pitch in MLB? The pitch heard ‘round Peoria today⬇️

My general take on this sort of thing is that reasonably smart people can make some good, against-the-grain calls early in their careers. Then, convinced of their brilliance, and buoyed by power and/or fame, they lose any interest in questioning their off-the-cuff instincts.

Dustin May is listed to start Sunday for the Dodgers, against the Padres at Camelback Ranch. First game action since May 2023

As #MLB spring training begins, I would like to emphasize that Bluesky is an inclusive place, so adjust your settings to remind you to add ALT TEXT to your pics of lineup cards and ~everything~ else.

I did Pulp’s “common people” at karaoke last night to a very muted response. The kids need to learn the classics.

#Royals top catching prospect Blake Mitchell has a broken right hamate bone, manager Matt Quatraro said. Surgery is scheduled for sometime this coming week, and it’s a 4-6 week timeline for recovery.

And, of course, there are people who are much smarter than me who have already asked and answered some of those questions!

There’s so much about the research into pitch trajectory and movement that I find so fascinating.

if where a pitch is aimed changes how it moves, can stuff and location truly be separated? i wrote about it for @fangraphs.com

I have been in a room with all of these players and I’ll tell you this much all of them would have killed this account with hammers (except Kirby who would have simply Snarled it to death)

the funniest story in baseball is the ongoing saga of the Yankees debating the ethics and morals of The Goatee as if they're Obama in the Situation Room making the call for Seal Team Six to make the kill

Yelich was close to Uecker. He said Uecker used to thank him for his friendship. Yelich always replied that it was he who should be thankful.

What do we know about Chandler Simpson? He has elite contact skills, and he might be the fastest man in baseball. In today's Spring Training debut, he singled on the first pitch he saw. Two batters later, he stole second. It begins.

Yeah, Aaron Boone being interviewed during the game today took a very serious tone to talk about how Hal Steinbrenner "didn't take this decision lightly" get over yourselves

Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus hurt his hamstring playing basketball. On the broadcast talking to Aaron Boone, Michael Kay says, "At least he had the good sense not to hurt his knee" Boone responds, "It's a bit too soon for that one, Michael" good bit

Langford has a "mild oblique strain" that will keep him sidelined for 5-7 days. But "mild" oblique injuries tend to not be mild if you push them too quickly, so I'm hoping we really don't see him for a few weeks to make sure he's okay. Obliques are very, very tricky in baseball.

Re: the Yankees facial hair policy, I noticed this quote in passing from Luis Castillo about how he probably would have turned down a trade to the Yankees this offseason because of their very terrible hair policy. www.seattletimes.com/sports/marin...

aaand now he's opening spring with an oblique injury, so that ADP is gonna drop

The Rays are the road team in their home stadium today. That's weird.

It’s time for the Milk Hotel to choose a side

for the cycle of responses to images from Nolan's Odyssey production

It’s time for some February ADP review. We’re trying to make sense of the biggest risers and faller, plus the best and worst values in drafts right now. Some spicy thoughts in here! www.cbssports.com/fantasy/base...

Using Twitter regularly is highly unethical, and a significant personal failing for people that do.

Up on BP today, a look at Gerrit Cole and how he's been changing over the past few years. The 33% strikeout rate is no more, but the Yankee ace remains one. I find his journey from one style to another (PIT to HOU to '23-present) fascinating. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Given reports that the Astros were willing to move Paredes to 2B for Bregman, I wonder if there isn’t still a sliver of a chance that Arenado could still end up in Houston?

Spring training reports are coming everyday, and we've got our first game today. How do you cut through the noise to find what really matters? Here's my breakdown of the types of news that really matters during Spring Training. www.cbssports.com/fantasy/base...

Yeah, the first time Ohtani pitches in a game since tearing his UCL in the summer of 2023 will be when he makes his debut in May of 2025. That doesn’t feel like it’s going to work out well.

Well, alright then

If you are someone who is complaining, or is going to complain about how the ABS challenge system is going to "lengthen the game" I have a note after watching this system in action in the minors: an argument over a close ball-strike call takes WAY longer than a challenge.
