The argument boils down to "buying a gun supports gun companies," which is completely undercut when you consider used gun sales/shows/etc.
Not having to worry about physical safety is a privilege that few queer folks have in the US rn.

The article has the same caliber (ha) of instrumentalist take that begets shitty slogans like, "guns don't kill people, people kill people," but instead aimed at painting them as purely instrumental to their manufacturers' profits.
Multiple things can be correct simultaneously; buying guns directly from manufacturers lines their pockets, but they can also save your life if things get rough enough.
