FYI, the form is a PDF, and unless you have Adobe Acrobat or other conversion software, there's no way to fill in the fields or erase the field labels (like WET SIGNATURE). Even using Acrobat, it's a chore and won't look like a professionally produced letter. Just so you know.

i was able to copy & paste into Apple Pages with no problems or errors.
Yes, I had to do some minor re-formating (eg, space paras, type my info, delete 'wet signature,' etc.), but that took less than 5 minutes.

perhaps this is an ignorant question, but won't doing that just be highlighting our names which will draw attention to ourselves and bring retaliation by using our information for ill purposes? I understand the idea of doing this, but am a little insecure about it as well.

The Privacy Act is different from the FOIA. Using this form will work but if you decide to file your own, do not state it is a FOIA request or it could be delayed or rejected. Privacy Act requests are filed for records related to you. FOIA is for stuff not specifically about you.
