Earthlings by Murata is also excellent. Really liked Out by Kirino and The Lady Joker books, but they do not have the… out-there-ness of Murata’s books, but they are great crime stories.
Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa. Caveat I have not finished it, I'm halfway through, but a lot of ppl who liked convenience store women like this one. It's actually really sweet so far, I should really finish it when my 🧠 decides it can tolerate reading a book again 🫠
