It's just about power.
You can get more leverage if you buy politicians.
Well, we just have to hope that Americans hate billionaires in a sort of “go-for-broke,” crazy, vodka-fueled, bear-fighting way that Russians are too mild-mannered to have considered.
Absolute power absolutely corrupts. And if there is one thing a very rich person is most of time most scared of, is becoming less rich and losing their status.
It's not an instinct to dominate. He's a spoiled little rich brat who's never been told No, has never been told he's not as smart as he thinks he is, and has rarely met a consequence for his actions. The few times he has been held to consequences, he's thrown a raging tantrum like a 3 year old
There is nothing more frightening to this spoiled brat than being held accountable for his actions. He's trying to out-race that accountability by breaking the systems that can punish him.
Because it also explains Musk. Look at Musk from a really hard angle. He is the world's most successful failure. He has managed to turn failing into a multi-multi billion dollar business. Dad's emerald money plus his own syncophant tendencies attached him to PayPal. They paid him to go away.
This is a rinse and repeat on pretty much every business he's been involved in up until he became the majority stockholder/owner. At which point buyout wasn't an option. So most of his companies have a management team designed specifically to handle him. A whole team for just one guy.

I think it's all male instinct to dominate. It's fun for them to see what they can get away with.
