Cause also the bar to ban political parties is pretty high. Unfortunately the intelligence agency capable of collecting evidence was lead by a pretty right-wing dude so we lost a couple of years here. Now it seems there is enough evidence to label them (court-proof) a right-wing/extremist party.

But that's only the first part. Now either the government or one of the two chambers (Bundestag or Bundesrat) would have to officially request that the highest court starts that whole process, which would then check if there's enough evidence for this, and if yes the main/actual trial would start.

It would be nice if this happens before the election on Feb 23, it will only get harder afterwards as the AfD (normal fascists) and the BSW (also fascists but pretend to be left-wing) will only get stronger, and to get this process started a majority has to vote in favor.

I've said elsewhere that small-d democrats in the US have a right to call on our longtime allies in the Western Democracies to help us, just like we helped them stay democratic in the Cold War. Germany absolutely foremost among them. They need to get off the sidelines, now, before it's too late.

I wish President Biden would not attend. Also, the Obamas, Bushes, Clintons. It’s not a sore-loser gesture like when Trump didn’t attend Biden’s. It’s a refusal to grant normalcy and legitimacy to a budding tech/far-right autocracy.
