How to be a critical thinker:
1. Be 10% more skeptical of people you agree with—and 10% more charitable to those you disagree with
2. Find flaws in ideas you like—and strengths in views you dislike
3. Discount sources that peddle one narrative—and learn from those that explore competing ideas

I think some get hung up on the word "critical". They equate it with "negative" (which it's not). It should be a required class in HS.
But seriously, thank you for this. It's easy enough to be actionable for even the most skeptic individual.
1. Identify weaknesses in ideas you agree with, and virtues in the ideas you disagree with.
2. Find alternatives to the ideas you like, and incorporate strengths of ideas you dislike.
3. Create new ideas that incorporate features from multiple conflicting sources.
