The xbench (especially @drhelenhainesmp) has been calling for household battery incentives for years.
Paying $150 paid to energy companies is a temporary patch. Batteries are part of the long-term solution to high bills & to the climate crisis. Let’s get on with it.

Price increases for 'off peak" power? Much higher service fees?
Both good problems to have BTW.
That would fix the enormous SUV problem we have too.
All things that need to be looked at, and would be better if shouty politics could be put to one side.
Wish we could go off grid, everyhome gets the batteries and panels it needs. You live within your generating capacity.
I know, a dream.
That's why we need the grid.
There's no reason why every small town needs to be connected to it though.
I'd like to see more community batteries, chemical or even better mechanical, so everyone benefits.
Owners get a rebate on their battery in return for letting the grid operator be able to borrow the battery capacity to stabilise the network.
We need both grid scale batteries and micro batteries in each street.
How about providing incentives to landlords to install solar and batteries...
Something worth looking at when taking the hammer to negative gearing, which needs to be done if we are going to do anything about equality in this country.
That solar panels, home batteries & EVs supply from China etc has to go somewhere.
Can be used to flick Australia across faster & cheaper.
Save 💰 & 🌏 at same time.
