Independents have shown for years that they can be a force for positive change in parliament for the communities they represent. It wouldn't be possible without volunteers and I am honoured that 850+ people from across the ACT have signed up to Team Pocock for my campaign.

I pushed the govt to deliver ambitious fuel efficiency standards & give 🇦🇺ns better options to save on the cost of expensive imported petrol. I’d stand against attempts to weaken this change. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/8895717/

The major parties don't have the moral courage to protect the people and places we love. This election is an opportunity to vote for a candidate who will. Minority govt may be the only thing that forces the Govt to put 🇦🇺ns ahead of vested interests. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

3 years after Russia's invasion, Ukraine’s fight is the world’s fight. This war isn’t just about territory—it’s about sovereignty and democracy in the face of tyranny. Abandoning Ukraine means surrendering to brute force. Slava Ukraini!🇺🇦

This has to be the final straw. Julie Tongs has been calling for an inquiry into AMC for a long time & I support her calls. Needs to look into AMC + why First Nations Canberrans are 21X more likely to be incarcerated. ACT gov can't keep ignoring this. nit.com.au/18-02-2025/1...

Our young people need this refuge Local volunteers - & taxpayer dollars - have been invested in it What a disappointing move from the ACT govt ignoring the community, wasting goodwill, time & money www.canberratimes.com.au/story/889641...

The Lib-Lab stitch-up on electoral reform doesn't remove big $ Memberships & subscriptions aren’t considered donations, so $100k+ party business forum dinners could dodge caps - one of many loopholes big enough to drive a cash-in-transit vehicle through. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Great work Uni Canberra bringing native species back from the brink of extinction 👏 As biologist EO Wilson said: "There can be no purpose more inspiring than to begin the age of restoration, reweaving the wondrous diversity of life that still surrounds us" www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

The xbench has been pushing the major parties to embrace household electrification & democratise our energy system to save households $1000s every year @helenhainesindi.bsky.social has a bill to incentivise household batteries - good to see major parties starting to see the value

Distressing seeing natural wonders being killed by warming. Yet Woodside wants to expand gas in WA. We have enough for the transition - we just allow multinationals to export it instead. What are we doing? Where is the moral courage to change course? www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

The NACC's decision to not investigate robodebt seemed wrong to everyone but them. It's taken too long to correct the error. Geoffrey Nettle AC KC’s review should be public & the Commissioner should reconsider his position to rebuild public trust in the NACC. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Very telling that last week Labor, Liberals & Nationals voted together FOR more public money but AGAINST banning donations from gambling, alcohol & tobacco companies 🤯🤦‍♂️ www.canberratimes.com.au/story/889404...

I negotiated a commitment to release road safety data publicly for the first time. This data should be part of any decision to spend $ on roads. People are sick of pork barrelling and dangerous roads not being fixed because they’re in safe electorates. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/889362...

If you want to ensure places in the Bush Capital like Bluetts Block & the Western Edge are protected and well managed please check out www.davidpocock.com.au/the_western_...

A win for Nature in the ACT! Much of Bluett’s Block is now protected thanks to the relentless efforts of Friends of Bluett’s Block. Now, let’s finish the job—Block 402 must be added to the reserve, & the Western Edge of Canberra protected for good! www.canberratimes.com.au/story/889197...

After undermining all meaningful action to protect Nature this parliament, the PM has swallowed the salmon industry’s BS hook, line and sinker 🤯😥 The industry pays little in tax & is driving species like the Maugean Skate to extinction. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

This is GREAT news...& why I have been pushing the govt to expand the size of the Housing Australia Future Fund which I supported with changes to add $6.5bn to its value already There IS capacity in the sector to build more social 🏘️ - let's get it done. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

This is pretty outrageous. Ending violence against women must be a priority, that means proper funding. We need real investment in all parts of the prevention & response system. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/889191...

The fix is in We've known from the start this would be a major party stitch up to lock out new community-backed independents. Giving more taxpayer $$ to pollies with no truth in political advertising protections is particularly shameful👎 www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

In 2010, 🇦🇺 spending on R&D was around the OECD average. Now it's closer to half that. We are facing huge challenges and we need real investment to meet them. Hopefully this review will help drive that, from govt & industry. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

This is good news & something I’ve been pushing for but doesn’t go to the root cause here - we need proper reform to lower student debt + make housing more affordable. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Spot on, @andrewwilkiemp.bsky.social. Mr Dutton’s proposed cuts to the APS will see us return to the poor outcomes seen under last govt, where veterans waited over a year just to have their claims even assigned to a reviewer, let alone approved. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/888890...

30 years ago, the Senate recommended a dedicated authority to safeguard whistleblowers. Decades later, we’re still waiting. The Whistleblower Protection Authority created by this Bill would finally provide protection for those who have the courage to speak out.

The Govt’s is again protecting industry instead of people. Their scams legislation ignores experts & consumer groups want (a reimbursement model), instead choosing a complicated model that industry wants. I’ll be moving amendments to protect 🇦🇺ns. the-riotact.com/bank-tells-8...

There’s a new story about the impacts of PFAS (forever chemicals) every week 😥 If you’re concerned or have been impacted please make a submission to the Senate’s PFAS inquiry: www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentar...

Is housing for wealth creation or strong communities? If it’s the latter, we have to change our tax system. I’ve put sensible reforms forward including grandfathering existing arrangements + an immigration & population plan that takes into account housing. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

🇦🇺ns shouldn’t be living below the poverty line in their retirement. The expert cttee I got govt to legislate recommended a significant ⬆️ of Commonwealth rent assistance. Until we start properly taxing the export of our gas, I don’t want to hear “we can’t afford that” www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

Why should people in the ACT be paying more on average to see a GP? We need to make healthcare affordable for all Australians, including vulnerable Canberrans. The govts plan isn’t working & we need a different approach. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/888516...

The great thing about being PM is you can make stuff happen if you want to. This PM has a bill to help protect our democracy from lies and AI in elections + a path to get it through the parliament next week - but he’s choosing not to take it.

Bulk billing rates are going backwards in ACT and remain the lowest in 🇦🇺. This election, I’m continuing to work with GPs and Canberrans on policies we can push for to turn this around. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/888442...

I absolutely back this call from ACTCOSS to increase community sector funding and put it on longer term footing. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/888194...

Labor just voted with the Coalition to kill THEIR OWN Nature Positive reforms🤯 Enough crossbenchers voted to keep it alive in the Senate for Labor to have passed their long promised reform. Neither of the major parties will stand up for Nature 😥

The Govt has decided to do nothing on gambling ads and it seems industry may have had a hand in this outcome. Today I’ll ask the Senate to agree to an inquiry into this, so we can see how much influence industry has over this public health policy. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/888391...

Labor’s scams legislation needs to be amended if it’s going to protect 🇦🇺ns who have been scammed. Experts and consumer groups recommend a reimbursement model like 🇬🇧 but the Govt seems to have caved to pressure from the banks. So important we get this right. www.news.com.au/national/pol...

We are destroying Nature - the very thing that sustains us. If we truly love this place we should look after it, pass laws to protect it and make decisions like we’re here for a long time. It seems neither major party is capable of that.

Mr Dutton & Coalition don't value the work done by public servants in CBR & around 🇦🇺 Cutting 36k public servants would be bad for veterans, aged care recipients, ppl on NDIS & everyone else benefiting from valuable govt services. Outsourcing the public service is not cheaper.

I have been pushing to lift the instant asset write off for small business & make it permanent. Both major parties have voted against this. Hopefully this new take from @sophiescamps.bsky.social might get them over the line🤞 www.afr.com/politics/fed...

We’ve got two weeks of parliament left to protect & strengthen our democracy ahead of the election. The last thing independents like @katechaneymp.bsky.social & I want to see is a major party stitch up that duds communities seeking better representation. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politic...

Invasive species threaten so many of the landscapes & native species we love. I’ve been calling on govt to set up a fund that ensures we have consistent funding and research into new tech like gene drive. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Bent Spoke is a massive success story & they’re right - govt needs to do more. I wrote to the federal Treasurer last August calling for modest changes that would make a big difference for small, independent brewers. the-riotact.com/after-a-deca...

Appalling decision by the PM. He has denied, delayed, and now decided to do nothing. He has caved to lobbying from the gambling industry, and it’s our young people who will pay the price. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Despite 78% of West Australians wanting stronger enviro laws, a Labor Premier & Labor PM prioritise fossil fuel companies over Nature and protecting this incredible place for future generations? 🤯🤦‍♂️ We’ve got state capture of the major parties in 🇦🇺 www.afr.com/politics/fed...

Happy Lunar New Year to those celebrating today! The Canberra Lunar New Year Festival is on in Dickson this Saturday 1 Feb to usher in the Year of the Wood Snake 🐍🏮

We need scam laws that actually protect consumers & see them get their money back That's what I'll be pushing for on behalf of our community. www.news.com.au/finance/mone...

Electrifying an entire suburb as a way of speeding up electrification for every household to save $$$$ was a commitment I gave to our community. Proud to have worked with Suburb Zero ACT to negotiate govt support to deliver on that today ✍🏼 Dan Jervis-Bardy www.theguardian.com/environment/...

A huge congratulations to Hannah and Vanessa of Cafe Stepping Stone on being Australia’s Local Hero’s for 2025. We are so proud of you! You really do mean so much to Canberra, and to the many women whose lives you have changed. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/887553...

Let’s fight elections with big ideas, not lies. AI is here but both major parties are dragging their feet in regulating it. We need to protect our democracy & ban deceptive uses of AI in elections. Voters deserve truth from their politicians. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

CBR has fewer GPs per capita than any other capital city. The ANU can take more medical students and provide our region with a future workforce. I’ve written to Govt to ask for additional funded places for the Med School. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/887230...

Great to see CBRIN get more support from the ACT Govt 👏🏼 The ACT has more startups per capita than any jurisdictions in 🇦🇺 and we all benefit when we provide them with support to scale here in Canberra. the-riotact.com/canberra-sca...
