I make my mom’s fruit/nut bread but adapted it to include more fruit than just dates. I also steep the fruit in rum. It’s dense, citrusy and delish toasted with cream cheese.
I made real homemade fruitcake from scratch with real fruit for the in-laws a few years back! People went *berserk* over it. I'm being asked to make a bunch for people this year.
(I started from Alton Brown's recipe, but tweaked it. The liquor I used to moisten it at the end was ginger brandy.)
My mother-in-law had no idea the cake itself was made with booze. I accidentally got her hammered.
Note that this is a recurring problem. The first time I got my mother-in-law hammered by accident, it was the 1990s, and she was trying my homebrewed mead.
My nephew is with his dad this week but I saved your "I farted on Santa Claus" video to show him when he comes back to my sister. He's gonna love it! 😂

When I give them as gifts, I include a spray bottle with the appropriate booze in it. Like this!
