Today’s show provides some clarity on this. (Although the polling hadn’t been published at the time.)

ridiculous. There’s a media pile on to every word this govt utters.
Starmer said migration had done incalculable damage to British society, that a squalid experiment in open borders risked Britain becoming an island of strangers.
No comparison at all.
So Starmer is concerned about where exactly ?
He lives in London.. so
Is Lincolnshire his worry??
Or if you prefer,
"Should Britain have high speed railway like every other developed nation?" - yes
" Do you want it near you?" - no
Depends on which question you ask!
Then I remember, the UK will NEVER elect anything socialist government.
He has done some good things...maybe there is a price to pay.
Once upon a time they were random sampling and not self selective.
Now, there is a panel of self selected panel members who choose which polls to take part in.
You have people who have joined and have infiltrated these, skewing the data.
Anybody can sign up to answer YouGov polls. Anybody can chose which ones to answer, or not. There's no conspiracy.
The actual problem with YouGov's platform is that one person can answer multiple times, with YouGov doing nothing about it.
Personally I don't understand how when we have vast numbers of unfilled jobs in care and hospitality making it impossible for foreign nationals to come here and work in one is a good idea
To be clear: Take YouGov polls with a pinch of salt.
Politicians should offer better than Starmers offering .
Of course Starmer is bowing to the focus group numbers for purely political gain. But that's not necessarily good government.
Language aside... which btw is simply not like Powell.... have you read the white paper? I.e. 'the susstance'
I do not understand how that can be a country wide statistic. If it is that's another reason to so glad I moved to Ireland in the early 2000's.
Poll result:
Yes - 100%
No - 0%
Carry on like this and Labour will lose the next election. I don't believe that automatically means Reform, but I do believe Labour will deserve it if that happens.
Awful politics and awful policies.
Take Back Control
Muslim Grooming Gangs
Citizens of Nowhere
Enemies of the People
Multiculturalisn has Failed
Knife-Crime Epidemic
Illegal immigrants
When you adopt the framing of the right, the public sees things from their point of view.
YouGov polls cannot be trusted any more. Not until they put in place measures to prevent people abusing the platform this way.
If a Prime Minister cannot effectively communicate the value of migrants, then he's unlikely to effectively communicate the importance of socialist policies.
Ask Germans if Jews were bad people in 1932 and the votes would validate all sorts of violence.
It’s about leading and demonstrating a value system that is superior to our base instincts.
We are a country of xenophobes.
At least I can argue with people who have an opinion.
70% said no
10% said yes if it would lower their fuel bills
20% said they didn't know
Oh fewer immigrants? Yeah country is full 😂😂
Those that do agree, would most likely agree with a Trumpian style round up and deportation without process.
It's doesn't make it right, just because people "agree".
He's only lost votes with this.
An overwhelming majority agreed the Johnson would be out knight in shining amour.
Starmer is pandering to lies and faux beliefs, opening the door for Farage to go further to the right and warp discourse further.
The polls keep specific issues in the news and then the politicians rush out some horrific policy which triggers a whole round of more polls.
The polls often deal with shallow issues not the complex issues that are actually making people's life worse
Very disappointing that YouGov don't do anything about this, yet they're championed as having their finger on the pulse of the nation.
