What does the remake do that fixes the ending? I don't recall the ending of Manhunter and I haven't read the book.
Overall, it's an awesome movie. I actually prefer this one way more than red dragon.
Same, the red dragon has a better pace in my opinion, but Manhunter sets such a wonderful atmosphere and yeah, the music! It's a regular on my playlist
When this came out, I was screaming for a tie in with CSI Vegas.
They could have had such a killer back story for William Petersen, having him go into witness protection and get a new identity as a CSI working in Vegas.
'Manhunter'
I read the book first. It was the first attempt at a movie introducing Hannibal Lecter.
It wasn't necessarily good, but it exposed a story that led to what many now revere as great films, thanks (in part) to the great efforts of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster in later iterations.
