There have never been any consequences for being wrong as long as you stay in line with the majority. There are a lot of career consequences for being correct while saying something out of line with the political consensus.

I’d settle for seeing just a few. All the coverage I remember from before the election was articles that printed Trump’s denials right next to hard reporting about the specific policies it looked like he was going to enact next to polls and quotes of people who didn’t care.
