One the unfortunate byproducts of the student success movement is that it significantly narrowed the purposes of higher ed. That (and the huge sums of $$$ behind it) animated the vision of higher ed adopted by center-left think tanks and policymakers.

Notably, this is the first year that the TX lege has more members without any college degree than with. As David says, though, it’s a bipartisan problem. Dems have sucked at protecting higher Ed.

Destroying higher education is always a Republican Party goal. The lack of push back from the nonexistent Republican moderates is the norm eh? +The fed overhead as funding was always the point of weakness of the higher ed system and the wolf has arrived.
