Last November, I lost myself in Stardew Valley to get through the loss and grief of a hard year. This November, I'm losing myself in Stardew Valley to simply make it through the day. That game is a gift π

As a fan of AC, Stardew is similar in that itβs a βnew peep in townβ social sim game. But Stardew has a more dynamic gameplay, has overarching plot-lines, villagers have their own backstory/events and time constraints.
IMO: AC = more relaxing experience / Stardew = more rewarding experience
I'm going with American Truck Simulator, like I did after my dad died. It's like aimlessly driving around but if you lose yourself in your own thoughts and careen off an overpass it's not such a big deal.
I started playing this one, too! It's all the GTA driving, except you actually want to stop at traffic lights and you can't steal a new rig after you crash your first one. Very zen π
β€οΈ I love it because it's just escapist enough. Show tunes at top volume, sure. Thrash metal and drive way too fast? good luck with your truck's limiter, but yeah. It's also full stopped me from texting in the IRL car because glancing at Discord in my second monitor always leads to a horrific crash.
Doing the same in Jurassic World Evolution 2 at the moment, just managing a park in sandbox mode, stressing about my dinosaurs and not the real world. π
ConcernedApe made such a timeless masterpiece. So much so it inspired similar new games that are coming out since these past few years. If only we all could call Pelican Town homeβ¦ π₯Ίππππππ
Part of me keeps telling me to give it a real run. I'd always start it and quit a few short hours into it. Something about the social aspect of it that makes me so nervous I toss in the towel before I've really begun. Any advice for a severe hermit/introvert that wants to play it but struggles to?
Currently doing the same with Palia. Echoes of Plum Grove is a good one too and Fields of Mistria. I have the Stardew itch again though and it would be lovely to lose myself in that world right now.
Stardew is the coziest escape for me as well. Thereβs always new things to find and old friends to see. Itβs something special. Been trying Fields of Mistria and I think when it hits full release, itβll end up making me have similar feelings.
Its always been funny to me that Stardew is supposed to be a relaxing game. Perdonally the ticking clock and energy management stress me out to the point of not enjoying the game. Maybe someday I can sit down and enjoy it.
Yeah I feel like I started my first real Stardew game a few months ago and finally finished the Community Center. Iβve heard thatβs where many stop playing or starting over. Iβm sorta feeling that vibe unless Iβm missing a whole lot of other content.
Watering crops, check.
Feed animals, check.
[checks clock] OH SHIT. [Run run run]
Oh HEEEEEY girl. [trying not to throw up] Fancy meeting you here. Oh, what's this? A bottle of the finest gold star wine from my vineyard? You've favorite? You don't say. What a crazy happenstance.
That and anything that allows me to focus on building characters and relationships more than having to look outside the window currently and wonder if the glass is thick enough.
I wish the bigger dev houses would look at him for an example. Like, you don't have to be crappy to your players...you could listen to them, and embrace them.
I love that! Stardew was with me through the happy days of my highschool life and it's still with me through challenging days of my college life. It's amazing that newer devs are following the trend and making creative farming games. Fields of Mistria is my fave so far! Recommended for sure.
Fields of Mistria feels like the first Stardew-inspired game to get everything right for me. Not that others were poor or what not, they just failed to capture the same kind of experience or essence for me

I'm hunkering down on Fallout 76 to just forget for a few hours.
A few hours of escapism and looting.
Please heal.
My wife and I hammered Stardew Valley, we need to get back to it.
Feed animals, check.

Needless to say, I understand, and you aren't by yourself.
Such a rare commodity in gaming...it should be celebrated.
We need more Apes and Larians.
Lately PowerWash Simulator has been what was keeping me sane.
So I also recommend Mistria. Good stuff
