I'm in the UK. They arrived here in the 1950s but they don't seem to be much of a problem, except when filming period dramas, where their call is anachronistic. Ring-necked parakeets have spread massively in recent years.
We used to have loads of them that liked my mum. They would recognise her and fly around her head while she put their food out. It was the most Disney thing I’ve ever seen. They do have a rather harsh call though that doesn’t suit their pretty looks.
The Eurasian collared dove is plentiful on the East Coast, but not on the Pacific coast. We have a population around Santa Barbara County. the babies are just hatching. There are several nests, and I put food out for them. Bird flu requires that I clean the area every night and switch areas daily
We had a pair last year that seemed to spend most of their time sitting in the road. It’s incredible they didn’t end up squished collared doves but they seem to have raised their family and moved on ok. This year’s pair prefer a tree. I worry about them less.
I have a pair here in N. Idaho. They were here last year, too. People worry about them pushing out the Mourning Doves. I suspect we don't have real evidence of that yet. Aren't we going to have to change our attitudes about migrants (human and non-human) with climate change?

A mated pair visits our backyard now and then. They’re skittish and tend to panic if the wind blows a leaf, but can’t resist our multiple water dishes. They also like the nuts&berries food we put out.
