Fun fact. In the Comics there have been storylines of them as adults and parents. I think most of the time the timeline gets rebooted, but I think it's "safe" to use those designs.
Also Bunnie married Antoine in the comics, roughly the same age as Sonic.
So I think, it's "safe" comic book wise

sonic fandom draws different lines in the sand same as pokemon fandom; as in it all seems to be slightly arbitrary and personal. The main cast of sonic characters can all operate independantly of "adults" and live on their own. it's my little pony rules basically.

Age lore stopped being canon a while ago as ages were removed from all the profiles (because Forces had a half-year timeskip + everything on the IDW comics is supposedly canon and happening between that game and Frontiers. Plus that game's voice direction has a quite deeper voice for Sonic...)
