“Forget what Starmer says. Britain has to choose…
Gradual strategic disengagement from America, coupled with renewed integration in a reformed, revitalised Europe is the only sane, safe path. Stop feeding the monster. He will devour us all”
Superb. And so right.

The Labour Party don't want to be responsible for plunging the country back into toxic Brexit wars...
It’s not your decision, is it ?
The EU is reforming and deepening the union, and the Trump administration has awakened the sleeping giant.
None of the recent progress would have been possible with the UK in.
That’s why I am sceptic when a British journalist says that the EU needs to be reformed.
But we have actually contributed to the recent efforts to protectively support Ukraine and I remain hopeful that we are learning some hard lessons about ourselves and will be more constructive and trustworthy in the future.
In a lot of ways , I hope the UK doesn’t get any special dispensations on tariffs , that will alienate us even more from Europe and leave us at Trumps whim.
He’s dealing with the equivalent of a moody teenager holding a gun. Ukraine is vulnerable and the UK has a hell of a job disentangling our defence infrastructure from the US.
Def should realign towards EU, even tho UK & US are culturally intertwined.
I've been boycotting US goods including not streaming US music and tbh, what I've noticed is how little I buy/play.
UK culture has a big footprint in the US compared to our size from James Bond to Harry Potter.
I don't live my life after the manner of the characters I see on screen.
In fact many of the plot lines around female characters and their reproductive rights and religion seem very alien to me.
How do we pay the bill for closer integration without asking our kids and grandkids to pay?
French and German economies are struggling, and the ECB in turn is also struggling because contributions are in arrears.
.
We are told we need closer ties with Europe.
Fine.
How are we to pay for that?
We can't borrow it and we can go raise it from higher taxation, and apparently we need more defence spending, so what other services are we willing to do without to be more European?
Do we also agree that we share a common challenge with today's polycrisis re. Russia, energy security, and macro economy as well as health?
From that point there's a simple choice: Scandi social democrat model OR rampant 🇺🇸 neoliberalism
That's a nett shrinkage.
We tried rampant neolib here, it didn't work too well and we're still paying for it.
So we need a different socioeconomic and political model.
Aggregate demand of households, business and Gov't is what matters
Therefore lower interest rates & encourage innovation plus raise deficits to cover defence, infrastructure etc.
Please someone, save me from the chattering classes.
Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?
Are you willing to put other people's money where your mouth is, at a time when people are struggling?
Will that go well?
