You're highlighting a few separate issues here, and I'll try to address them in a thread.

There have always been bots and engagement/follow farming on Bluesky, even during the invite only beta. Bluesky is actively working on making improvements in this space.

It is still a corporation, just one that can prioritize more than just equity holders. But in this case, the investors do really seem to believe in the importance of decentralization and what it can enable, and are making bets broadly in that space.

It wouldn't matter! Bluesky the ecosystem is built so that if bluesky dot social becomes evil, everyone can essentially just push a single button and seamlessly move somewhere else run by other people.

Again, the point I keep making is that they have built in what are, in effect, technical poison pills. The network can survive without the company. If someone takes over the company and fucks it up, everyone can keep going outside of Bluesky using the same network.

I know this is a brilliant, technical safety net - but like any system of this kind it should be tested before the disaster happens. Hopefully, soon, a new application that intersects and enhances the AT environment will be there for people (including elonio) to realize that this works. Am I wrong?

I'm being honest. We cannot say with certainty that it won't. But yes, I will fight against it as I can while on the board AND also I will continue to make sure the team is building in the technological means to prevent it (though they already are committed to that).
