When news came out in the early 1990s that Simon LeVay had discovered a biological cause of being gay (the size of a tiny piece of the brain - since overwhelmingly criticised) I was interviewed for national radio about this.

1) If it were true then people might think it was something that could be cured. And 2) it sort of suggests that somehow it "isn't my fault" as if being gay is a fault rather than a valid part of the diversity of sexuality.
