The real reason Americans don’t have healthcare is because the labor movement was crushed by business interests.

Placing the blame solely on non-structural factors. Is not helpful.

Of 161.42 million registered voters in the US, only 77,302,416 voted Republican, which is just 47% of the electorate, although it's lower still when you take account of non-registered voters. I have American friends who are so far from his description. It's like saying Britain loved Johnson! 😜

There are decent people in the US who believe that a fairer society could be achieved. Unfortunately, these people didn't vote for either presidential candidate in the last election and often don't vote in any elections. It's easy to describe them as selfish; I would say 'despondent' accurate.

I'm not excusing the vile behavior of these people(it's terrible), but selfishness and greed are universal human traits. Doesn't matter what part of the earth you live in, if someone can screw over their neighbor and enrich themselves, a majority have no problem doing that. Humans never learn.

I agree. I live in it. But how are ethnic and religious minorities treated in the middle east in places like Saudi Arabia or Iran. What about the horrific caste system in India? Or how China treats the Uyghers? The list goes on and on. Humans are terrible to each other.

On the other hand, they are educated in a culture that promotes such behaviour. The basic rule is 'get money, buy stuff, repeat'. Everything, whether material, emotional, intellectual or philosophical is commodified.
