The Mets are really good now, and quite fun, and as a fan I enjoy that. However, I do miss when I could get a ticket for like $10 to basically any game. It’s like $40 to sit in the left field 500 level for Pride Night next Friday!

This is also a chance for me to uncork a take I’ve been saving: going to the ballpark is a fun experience, and I love doing it, but TV’s actually the optimal way to be able to understand the game unless you have nice seats where you can properly see what the pitcher is doing.
My spicier version of the same take is that sitting in the outfield where you can catch a home run is for rubes who don’t really want to watch the game.
It’s not like football where you need to be able to see all 22 players to know how a play develops, outside of some baserunning scenarios you aren’t missing anything on TV, and you’re definitely missing a lot sitting five hundred feet away.
I love going to games when I can, but I've always preferred radio to TV for baseball. Probably a byproduct of growing up with Bob Uecker on the call. It's easy to picture everything happening & I can be on the move doin' stuff.
it’s impossible to judge balls and strikes if you’re not at field level so you can spend a lot of the time watching the Jumbotron…which is just a giant tv at the ball park lol
I have the exact opposite take and prefer NFL on TV and baseball live. I think baseball is more engaging at the park and has a better feel. The TV work for football is excellent.
At the Indy 500 two weeks ago. Excellent seats (ask not the cost). For the 3-D experience, the colossal facility, the grandness of the spectacle, the BEINGTHERE-NESS, absolutely. An E-VENT!
To see all the track, follow strategy, in-race interviews, all the passing, use TV for the competition.
I agree. The pitcher batter matchup makes way more sense when you can see exactly how the pitches move. Once the ball is in play you’d rather be there, but before it’s in play you’d rather be watching.
I go to the ballpark to drink a watered down beer, pretend to keep score, and sit in the sun with a few thousands of my friends. I go to my couch to actually watch the game.
