Many are noting this recommendation is a work-around while still maintaining male-only eldership, creating shadow-elders or de-facto elders. Those for and against male-only eldership find it odd and a bending of convictions and tradition. 2/

I believe it’s far better to follow the clear command of 1 Tim 5 and recognise the elder women as mothers in the family of God and elder men as fathers. Fathers and mothers work together for the benefit of the family of God. 4/

It would be foolish for the fathers to make decisions that impact the whole family and not work with and listen to and decide with the mothers. The word of God has the best solution for the challenges we face. 5/

My big concern is that a few years ago there was a national survey and overwhelmingly male elders thought they were doing a very good job listening to, equipping and including women in their churches.

This!! By this work around, they are simply trying to make both sides happy. From what you've posted here, it appears to have failed already.
