JoJo's Bizarre Adventure really just throws Concepts at you like "The protagonist of the arc you just saw, an American man who lived through WWII, will publicly declare that he hates Japanese people now... Because his daughter married one."

It's so strange too, cuz as far as I can tell so far it doesn't ever come up again, he never acts like that again other than the scene where they establish it??
He insults Japanese coffee in one scene at the very start of Part 3, but only for the sake of the joke being that it's actually American coffee he took with him on the trip.
He also despises the futon that was in the bedroom Holly gave him, along with the fact that some people thought Holly's name was Holy, so they called her Seiko, the Japanese word for holy.
Im also a fan of "serial killer hand fetishist BUT BUT he just wants be left alone. He's just a little guy" and "well, i WAS in it to get my legs back but now Jesus is involved.."
Weren't they on the American side? They worked with Germans during the story but that was before the war. Joseph mentions at his "funeral" that it's a shame they're at war now cuz it'd be nice if Stroheim could put some gadgets in his new mechanical hand, implying they never collaborated in wartime
