To them personally and then speak to their supervisor and compliment them in front of their supervisor. And then also do a cast member compliment through the app. What you're not there now? Well turn that plane around and go back!
Contact guest relations to let the company know the cast member is amazing. But if you want the cast member to know how great they did, it’s best to tell them in person 😊
We used to go to city hall to leave them and that’s great, but they make it easier with the app and I was told by a cast member that they see both, but the app it easier.
I used to go into City Hall to do it all the time too, and the guest relations CM would look at me like I had a third head.
It was weird, apparently they can't take specifics... So they would have to scrawl down my compliment and then manually enter it into the system and then destroy the paper.
I like to give Cast compliments at Disneyland Paris. They have a nice way to do it now, a paper they will give to write on that goes to the CM. But when I first started doing so years ago, Guest Relations would look at me funny and ask what the CM did (almost always assuming it was a complaint).
A guest sent in a letter (with pictures) and no joke 3 years later my manager finally got it and made a special guest compliment.
I guess it was also talked about during a parkwide manager all-hands (which I was not invited to).
I very distinctly remember this guest... back in 2015
My first nametag with my year pin is at the bottom of the river. I've been meaning to ask if they've found it at any point since I quit 5 years ago; I'd quite like it back
The app WORKS but it's very impersonal (or it was).
The best way when I worked in the parks was City Hall, but you had a 50/50 shot of it actually getting to the CM.
I've been told physical mail can work, as well as emailing https://[email protected] or using https://disneyland.disney.go.com/help/email/
As for what the CM actually GETS - for the non-app compliments, they get a certificate (like the ones pictured).
They don't get a raise, nor are they more likely to get promotions etc. - they just get a nice certificate.
When I worked in the park I would hang mine up (until I ran out of wall space)
To make sure it gets to the right CM:
* Ask them for their name directly. Sometimes CMs lose a nametag and are using a borrowed one (or one with a name that doesn't match Disney's database)
* Note the exact time down to the minute
* Note the exact location they were at (CMs rotate every 30 minutes)
It _does_ work (or did when they rolled it out initially), but at least back when it first was rolled out the compliment was digital too.
Usually when you got a compliment they would print it on fancy paper and stick it in a nice folder. The digital compliments weren't quite the same
If you do it through the app it just allows you to make a selection of generic comments and no details. If you go to Guest Relations or the front desk of a resort you can have them submit one for you and they can leave detailed information if you’d like! Here’s how they look in comparison.
My company has printed up professional Thank You cards that we can hand out when we are met with superior Customer Service.
I bring these with me on my trips to WDW and when I encounter a CM who has provided beyond outstanding service (which let's be honest the majority DO)...
...I write a special note in the card and I hand it right to them.
The card has a pre-printed message about my company being dedicated to outstanding customer service and how we like to recognize it - and to show the card to their manager.
I like doing this as it's direct and tangible to the CM...
The MDX app. As long as you have the CM name, location, and hometown that is on their name tag (if you have it) the compliment will go to the CM, the CM Leader, and it will post to their record card. Also, it’s ok to take a pic of their name tag so you can remember.
Ah cool, I didn't know if the ones through the app go through. And even then you can't be more specific about what they did than broad categories. I might email too. Thanks!

I’m so old school that I never even realized that was an option. 😅

When a Guest Relations CM knows you are being positive, you can watch the relief flow over them.
It's a ven more true since the rollout of Genie/LL and all of the upcharges.
I guess it was also talked about during a parkwide manager all-hands (which I was not invited to).

I already used the app, but I wish there was somewhere to type the specific thing the CM did that was so great, not just a vague category.

That said it really helps to have a lot of information about the CM. Name, where they are from and their role.
It's hard because they don't let you give any specifics, just general categories.

And it is personal, more so than the app, IMO.
And they're more likely to get to me (whereas I feel like 50% of guest compliments never left City Hall)
