When I wrote this book I aimed for a single-volume resource on yokai. I tried to give a picture of the full flavor of what the word "yokai" can mean, from folkloric creatures to hidden villages in the mountain.
I never imagined it would be used as the base for a course at a university in Japan.

Professer of Anthropology Darren Ashmore of Yamanashi Gakuin, in Kofu, Japan has designed an entire course around my book ULTIMATE GUIDE TO JAPANESE YOKAI.
He said it is "the best, most cost effective introduction text to the base of the course."
