It’s such a shame more people haven’t watched it! I thought they did a great job on a lot of levels, including how they incorporated Ted Kord without diminishing Jaime.
i got one of my groups to watch it and they LOVED it!! Everyone was laughing and having a good time. I was so happy that they loved it and even stayed waiting for the end credits without being certain that there were any.
I like your take but I seem to remember the main antagonist is a giant corporation who’s trying to get their tech back from him because they want to use it for weaponry (US defense).
However there’s definitely a vein of immigrants being taken advantage of/treated poorly.
big corporation was also involved directly School of the Americas which was very much why the body guard defected in the end and dragged Victoria to her death. it was solidarity so history doesn't repeat. and the big bad was also trying to steal land. there are layers and implications.
and the movie frequently mentions they cannot be brought in or caught by the police (even the corporations private police) because they're not legal. making the corporations police- to them- ICE by proxy.
I could be misremembering as it’s been a bit since I saw it but I did like it. I think it’s good that they defined him through his culture and heritage - not enough big budget superhero stuff doing that.
I also liked the scene where they go to use the nice bathroom because “eff the man”.

But for those who are... I think it will be a great film.
