Spend any time on the Audiophile subreddit and you'll see pathetic losers in a never-ending search of The Best that money can buy, asking "can you tell if my FLAC files are equal to SACDs" and "is this streaming service 192/24 lossless or just 44/16"

"more photorealistic = more good" is not only the most banal aesthetic preference possible, but it completely misses that "photorealistic" is JUST as constructed as any other aesthetic, and therefore cannot think critically about it by definition.

No wonder AI bros love it.
