And only citizens. Not companies, not unions, charities, organisations. Only citizens with an upper annual limit. Also, all donations have to be to the central political party, not to individual MPs or local branches.

You can build in legal protections against that - in the same way that you can't just gift your house to your child on your deathbed and avoid inheritance tax, or gift your employees money to avoid income or employer taxes.

Because that’s how the party that had been in charge for the last 14 years kept getting elected. My own conservative MP, Nigel Adams (at the time), blocked me on Twitter for asking why he got 45k for his campaign from a Russian citizen & what did they want in return.
