A couple of UK seaside celebrities. I used to think they were specific to Scarborough when I was young, but I’ve since learned that they’re in almost every seaside town 😀 #photography #thephotohour #documentary #Yorkshire

Does anyone have any ideas how to put a cone of shame on a cat that’s just had an operation that REALLY doesn’t want the cone? The cats going frantic when we try and I don’t want his stitches coming open. #cats #vets

More work from Scarborough a couple of weeks ago. All part of my ongoing project to document the social and geographical changes facing the Yorkshire Coast. . You can see the blog post with all of the Scarborough work on my website (link in bio) #photography #thephotohour #documentary #yorkshire

Working in the centre of Leeds today. Just sharing my lunch with some mates… #photography #thephotohour #dayjob

A couple of weeks ago I was in Scarborough working on my Yorkshire Coast photo project. I was surprised by how many happy memories of family days and holidays it brought back. #photography #documentary #yorkshire #coast #thephotohour www.markhillyer.co.uk/blog/scarbor...

Early start for some project work today. The Met Office app lied about light rain :-)

A while ago, I was commissioned to produce the marketing & promotional images for a theatre production of Kafka's A Hunger Artist. The images are finally on my site now... #photography #theatre #photographersunited www.markhillyer.co.uk/project-kafk...

Had a family day out to Brimham rocks near Harrogate earlier this week. It’s always a tough one as a photographer, when you have a day out with family…how much time can you spend taking pictures? @nationaltrust.org.uk #photography #thephotohour #yorkshire

Nice Lee Friedlander article for a Bank Holiday breakfast time. www.newyorker.com/culture/phot...

RIP Sebastião Salgado. An outstanding photographer. I will never forget seeing you, on a bench outside the Natural History Exhibition showing of Genesis, hoping no one recognised you. (Photo: Renato Amoroso) #photography #salgado

A few BTS images from my project work day in sunny Scarborough. I say sunny. It wasn't sunny until lunchtime and up to that point, it was freezing. #yorkshire #coast #B&W #Photography #thephotohour

As a kid on family holidays, this place was the living embodiment of pure magic. So much so that walking round it now, 40+ years later, it’s like it was yesterday

Project day today - it is freezing in Scarborough

I found myself stuck in York for a few hours last week, so I wandered aimlessly and took a few photographs - nothing fancy - just trying to avoid the touristy images of the Shambles & the Minster :-) #photography #wandering #york www.markhillyer.co.uk/blog/passing...

One of the more rudimentary shelters at Port Mulgrave. When I visited, it was early Spring and was pretty cold, but there was signs that some of the shacks and shelters had seen recent use. . Link to the project is in my bio. #photography #thephotohour #documentary #yorkshire #coast

Spiorad àird nam Murchan More work from my ongoing nine and half year project and love affair with the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. More of the work from a photo essay sub series exploring the elemental and spiritual magic of Port na Carraidh. This will also be released longer form on the www

I made so much work at Port Mulgrave last month that I'm struggling to edit it down. Such an odd place. It's so quiet, but it's a very unsettling quiet. #photography #thephotohour #documentary #yorkshire #coast

1/2: My project to document the changing face of the Yorkshire Coast has taken me to some pretty diverse places over the last few months. Port Mulgrave is definitely the most unusual so far. #photography #thephotohour #documentary #yorkshire #coast

A while back, last month, I went to port Mulgrave as part of my Yorkshire Coast project. It's quite the descent down to the beach, but definitely worth it. You can see more of the project if you like - the link is in my bio. #thephotohour #documentary #photography #Yorkshire #Coast
