It’s an interesting one…been following it for years, and so much of what is shared with conviction re the SA is demonstrably untrue. Not ‘all’ of it, just a significant chunk :-)
I absolutely refuse to give my donations (clothing, food, toiletries, blankets, etc) to any religion based charity. I'm opposed to forcing a person in need to attend church services just to receive warm clothes and a damn blanket.
F the salvation army, been thru their program and it's evil af up in there. Slave labor under horrible conditions, heavy indoctrination and hypocrisy... but the food was great cuz I werked in the kitchen
Over a century ago Joe Hill wrote "The Preacher And The Slave" song about the Salvation Army, with lyrics you may know like, "long haired preachers come out every night try to tell you what's wrong and what's right" and "you'll have pie in the sky when you die. (that's a lie)"
While they’ve been accused of opposing LGBTQ+ rights, more recently it has stated that its mission is to serve people in need, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic. It has launched the LGBTQ+ support page to clarify its commitment to equality & inclusion.
First time I hear about this aspect about the Salvation Army. Too bad for them if it is true. They are definitely heading in the wrong direction and it will be their loss.
A good deal of their food bank locations also require you to show ID (because starving undocumented people can go fuck themselves, I guess) and fill out an application. Only food bank I've heard that does that.
Now they gotten into the future. Instead of putting money into the Kettle, now they want you to tap either $5, $10 or $20. This old bitty was there Instead of jingling bells, she would jingle the Bell on her hat instead of taking it off her head.
They've been abusing their tax exempt status for years with their bigotry and civil rights abuses. Can't remember the last time I put a dime in their kettle and it'll be a cold day in Hell before I do it again.
I still participate in the angel tree program to buy gifts that go to directly to the kid I “chose” from the tree/online, but won’t ever give them my money.
The irony of someone attempting to reach as many people as possible with their message by intentionally preventing as many people as possible from finding and engaging with that message.
Hard agree. Everything I saw earlier very much suggested that "improve our public image" was the driving force and not "we were entirely wrong previously"
The ONLY charity that I actively supported has been St. Jude's.
Salvation Army has always been a scam with 70-80% of donations going toward 'administrative costs'.
Religion is the second root of all evil. The first is money. Religion was created to scare the peasants into conformity so the monarchs could keep their money. Still works like a charm to this very day.
I can’t believe people are just leaning about this shit. Just ask an old gay and he will tell you who the real haters are. This is one of them for sure.
I totally agree. Disgusting! They have always been this way and many many more are just like them. The better anyone sounds the more shit and skeletons they keep in their closet for the next generation to discover. 🫤

It's for remembrance of the war dead and a veterans organization.

Go spread your indignant irony somewhere else
Why was that rhetoric there in the first place?!

Not saying they haven't started trying to change. I'm just going to donate better places until enough time has passed to prove it.
There are so many ways to help those who need it. Ways that don't support hate covered up by religion.

Thank you
Had no idea.
