Kentucky has professionals checking everything we build for potential sinkholes. My geology professor my freshman year said he told the Corvette Museum explicitly not to build there, but they did anyway. A sinkhole under a sidewalk especially never should've happened.

Oof yeah they really should have listened to that one.
In our old neighborhood there were and still are sinkholes opening up in middle of the streets but the city just keeps arguing that it's the home owners responsibility.
