Please can you assure us that the balance of leasehold reforms will get resolved this year? The complicated aspects of enfranchisement is understood but is not impossible to expedite. You must also end the cruel act of FORFEITURE immediately. Millions are counting on you to end this misery.

So something good, finally. Unfortunately landlords can gouge leaseholders for between 6k and 10k to extend those leases, although the standard will be 990 years I believe, so worth paying I guess.

This change will come into force at the end of this month, giving leaseholders the flexibility to make a claim immediately upon buying a leasehold property, and reducing their costs as a result.

When will Labour change this?: For shared-equity leasehold you can't always extend the lease term because housing associations have veto power. They cite non-staircasing as the reason, something never explained at the time of purchase. Feels like a case of mis-selling.
