I don't agree. Peaceful protest works if it provokes a violent response from an authoritarian state, but in general it makes it easy to ignore. Demands for peaceful protest are made to muffle and neuter protesting voices. Protest has to disrupt to be effective.

In this instance, the state that will police the protest is the British state with whom there is no quarrel. The Russian state will not be impacted in any way by the protest with its presence behind embassy walls, protected by fences, able to simply ignore the protest and let it pass.

Funny (& tragic) that so many who oppose Russia's invasion/war crimes in Ukraine seem so less bothered by "our ally" Israel's Genocide, ethnic cleansing & occupation of neighbouring countries.
