Long ago, I was offered a job heading the animation department at a university in Shanghai.
I signed the contract, sold all my stuff, moved out of my apartment. 8 hours before my flight, my new boss called.
"Just wanted to say we're excited to see you tomorrow, and there's been a SLIGHT change."

Boss had the balls to act shocked when I left them without a dishwasher for the weekend.
Boss: You're not the head of the department anymore, you're a teacher.
Me: Oh?
Boss: And you're not teaching art, you're teaching English
Me: Oh.
Boss: And it's not at the university, it's at a private study room for kids
Me: huh?
Boss: Actually, it's seven private study rooms.
Boss: You'll travel between them throughout the day, but they're no more than an hour apart each.
Me: Uh…
Boss: We're no longer providing a car though, so it might be longer than that on the bus.
Me: But…
Boss: It shouldn't be more than 8 hours a day but that doesn't include travel time
Me: That's…
Boss: Also instead of $4000 a month you'll be making $1000 a month.
Me: How…
Me: No, I'm not coming.
Boss: What do you mean? We already paid for the flight! We have a contract!
I did not go. They were big mad.
The contract is void if they're not holding up their part.
